Education
Over the years we have worked with a number of different schools and academies – especially in our local county.
More recently, we have helped schools and universities such as; Bournemouth University, Ambitions Academy Trust, Blandford School, and Bournemouth Grammar School to reduce their carbon and energy costs. Projects such as solar PV, FreeCooling, LED lighting and energy monitoring technology has been implemented to see savings of up to 90% in some areas.
In our experience, school buildings are unfortunately renowned for being inefficient and leaking energy! With ubiquitous energy price hikes, this is becoming a huge financial problem for schools. Generally, we advise that installing energy monitoring technology is a great place to start, to help gain full visibility of where savings can be made.
In early 2023, new UK Government funding was announced, to help shield schools and colleges from high energy bills, and boost budgets. Schools and colleges in England are being allocated a share of £500 million to spend on energy efficiency upgrades. The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme is also investing over £1.4 billion in public sector buildings, including schools over the next three financial years. On average, a primary school will receive approximately £16,000, a secondary school will get £42,000 and a further education college group will benefit from £290,000.
